Reid Miller Performing Biography

Reid Miller began performing at a young age.  After listening to relatives and family friends tell and sing of their lives on stage, around the table and beside the hearth, he showed early talent.  He started acting, singing, and telling stories in elementary school.  In high school and college he studied language, literature, theater and communication arts.

Reid traveled across the United States as a young man.  In 1977, he performed in a Wisconsin Summer Library Reading Program.  His audiences loved his dramatic presentations of stories and songs.  Generations packed the seats.  Book circulation soared.  Word spread and soon he entertained at libraries, schools, theaters, fairs, festivals, markets and other community gathering places across the country.  In addition to storytelling, Reid also mastered a variety of folk instruments along the way, and became a puppeteer.

He has performed at Wolf Trap National Performing Arts Park, American Players Theater, Corn Island Storytelling Festival and a host of other venues.  Reviews call his performances, “Must see!” and “Critic’s choice” and proclaim him, “One of America’s finest performers.”  His most prized accolade is a note from a 3rd grade student saying, “I wish you lived in my town so you could perform here everyday.”

In addition to performing, Reid has organized many storytelling and family entertainment programs, including:  Northland Storytelling Network, Family Halloween Storytelling Festival, Wisconsin Storytelling Get-Together, Madison [WI] Storytelling Guild, Ghost Stories Into the Night Concerts, Waisman Center Family Entertainment Series [UW-Madison], Kids in the Rotunda Concerts  [Madison,WI, Overture Center], and Paw Paw Puppet Theater.  He has also created numerous storytelling and folk music recordings.

He continues to perform and instruct year ‘round.  For more information contact:  reidmiller@yahoo.com or call 608-852-4524.
