installing groupwise
windows client
- Browse to http://plantpath.wisc.edu/software/Groupwise/Windows/
- Click on "GroupWise_7_0_1_10.exe" -- or click here
- Follow
the on-screen instructions until the client has finished installing.
- To
start the Windows client, click the GroupWise icon on your desktop.
- Problems that some folks have encountered with installation/upgrade on Linden LAN:
(August 2006) ... And the solutions....
- Login and password for the software web site is the general network uid and pw - not the Groupwise uid and password.
- Error message after installation - when running new version: "CCSW32.DLL not found". The program will still run but this gets annoying after a while. The fix is to rename a file in the C:\windows\system23 folder. Rename "NWSS0.DLL" to "NWSS0.OLD".
- Slow download over dial-up connection. Fix: We have copied of the installer on CD that you can borrow. Let us know if you need one.
- Entry Point not Found Dynamic link library GWXIS10.DLL FIX: Dissable NOTIFY and try running the installer again (Notify is a little 'globe' icon in the lower right hand part of the toolbar. Right click on this and 'exit'.
- Error 1904.module ... gwab132.dll failed to register. We don't have a fix for this yet.
- Installer hangs up and eventually crashes. Fix: Virus scanner was blocking the copy part of the install. Check that you don't have more than one virus scanner installed and running. Try dissabling virus scanning while installing Groupwise.
- Tutorial is aimed at Windows version of Groupwise 7. The topics relate to various capabilities of Groupwise and how to use them but some of these are not available in the Mac OS (Linux) version of the client. No Fix
- Problems downloading from web and installing from zip file. GW7 can be installed directly from the P drive for machines that are connected to the LAN with a Netware client.
- In Windows Explorer (My Computer) browse to P:\WIN95_SB\Installers\Groupwise folder and run "Groupwise 7 client for windows sp1"
linux
client
- Browse to http://plantpath.wisc.edu/software/Groupwise/Linux/
- In a terminal window at your Linux workstation, change to
the directory where you downloaded the client, then use the following commands
to uncompress and untar the downloaded file:
gzip -d gw700lnxc.tar.gz
- In the same terminal window, become root
by entering su and the root password.
- Enter rpm -Uhf novell-groupwise-gwclient-7.0-20050803.i386.rpm.
- To start the Cross-Platform client after installation, click the GroupWise
icon on your Linux desktop.
macintosh client
- Browse to http://plantpath.wisc.edu/software/Groupwise/Mac_OS/
- Click
the gw701cmace.dmg file to download and install the Macintosh client.
- To
start the Cross-Platform client, click the GroupWise icon on your Macintosh desktop.
