GroupWise Vacation Rule

NOTE: The easiest way to set a vacation rule in Groupwise is to use the web Client. The Web client creates a 'quick and dirty' rule that works perfectly for 95% of the cases. When it does cause problems you will want to explore more sophisticated rule logic described herein.

GroupWise vacation rules are used for generating auto-replies to incoming messages. Use the following steps with the GroupWise 6.5 Windows client. The steps contain 2 separate rules.

First Rule - Stop Rule Processing

  1. Tools > Rules > New
  2. Type in "Stop Rule Processing".
  3. Leave Event as "New Item" and "Received" checked.
  4. Click on Define Conditions.
  5. Set 2 CC fields to contain your last name and your GroupWise Address.
  6. Set 4 Subject fields to contain undeliverable, SPAM, fwd and auto-reply. Each condition should be separated by Or.
